Candles lit for secular voices

Social activists on Sunday held a candlelight vigil in front of the Town Hall, in memory of secular voices, brutally eliminated and silenced by violence.

The activists paid tributes to Narendra Dabholkar, social activist and rationalist writer, assassinated while on an early morning walk on August 20, 2013 in Maharashtra, M M Kalaburgi, a scholar of Vachana Sahithya, assassinated on August 30, 2015 and Gauri Lankesh, activist and senior journalist, assassinated on September 5, 2017.

Karnataka Kannada Tamil Federation remembered Father K J Thomas of St Peter’s Seminary, on his sixth death anniversary on Sunday. Thomas was murdered in 2013, as he was against selling a portion of seminary land, according to reports.
