Bengaluru: A 26-year-old carpenter from Uttar Pradesh lost his life in a road accident near Chikkajala in northern Bengaluru late on Wednesday night.
The victim, Neeraj Kumar, a native of Gorakhpur, was riding his two-wheeler when he collided with a stationary container lorry on Gantiganahalli Road near Sai Green Park Layout between 11.40 pm and midnight.
The Chikkajala traffic police said that lack of streetlights on the stretch contributed to poor visibility. The lorry, which had stopped to facilitate the installation of electric poles in the layout, was parked on the roadside when the crash occurred.
The police have detained the lorry driver for further investigation.
Kumar, who had moved to Bengaluru for work, lived in Harohalli and had got married just a year ago.
