CCB police avert gang war, arrest four rowdies

The suspects are Raveendra (31), Manjunath (26), R Sunil (21) and Swamy Gowda (24), all from Banashankari III stage. Tipped off, the police arrested them from Vasanthapura Main Road in Subramanyapura police limits.

The police said the suspects were the associates of rowdy-sheeter Gurumurthy alias Balla. Gurumurthy and his associates had hacked the leader of their rival gang, Katriguppe Linga, to death at his father's house last year.

Gurumurthy is the trusted man of notorious rowdy-sheeter Cycle Ravi and Jhonty, who are lodged at Central Prisions, Parappana Agrahara.

In order to establish his supremacy in rowdy activities in Bangalore and to reduce the strength of Linga's gang, Gurumurthy had instigated the suspects to murder Pavan and Muniya, the associates of Linga, police added.

Woman robbed of chain

Mahalakshmi Hegde was robbed of her gold chain worth Rs 80,000 at Gruhalakshmi Layout in Peenya on Saturday.

Police said Mahalakshmi  was resting at a park when a man pretending to be a walker approached her, snatched her chain and sped away on a bike with two others.
