Karnataka on Tuesday sought the Central government’s assistance to develop three elevated 75-km-long roads in different parts the City.
A delegation from the State comprising Transport Minister Ramalinga Reddy, Information Minister Roshan Baig, Mayor Shanthakumari and Deputy Mayor Ranganna met Union Minister for Transport and Highways Nitin Gadkari and informed him that a project report on the construction of 75-km-long four-lane elevated roads at a cost of Rs 18,000 crore had been prepared recently. They urged the Ministry of Road Transport to share a part of the cost for the early implementation of the project.
The routes of the proposed elevated roads are: Silk Board Junction to Cantonment, KR Puram to Yeshwantpur and Varthur Kodi to Jnanabharathi.
The delegation also met Union Minister for Home Affairs Rajnath Singh and urged him to set up a unit of National Security Guard in the City.
