Bhaskar Naidu and his wife Krishnaveni, residents of Sai Apartments at MLA Colony in Hyderabad, had allegedly told the owner of Sapna Book House in Bangalore that they personally knew ministers and bureaucrats of Andhra Pradesh and that they would supply them books and papers provided at subsidised rates by that state government, police said.

The couple struck a deal with the book shop in 2008 and collected money in instalments, for three years, amounting to more than Rs 30 lakh. But when they failed to deliver the consignment, Suresh C Shah, the owner of Sapna Book House, lodged a complaint with the Upparpet police.

The police nabbed the duo and recovered Rs 14.5 lakh from them.
