"We are currently conducting a survey for Namma Metro," CISF Director General N R Das told reporters. CISF is giving security to Delhi Metro and Delhi Airport Metro Link.
While refusing to give any further details of the personnel deployed for Metro, he said CISF was still looking into all the issues.
Security for Bangalore Metro would be provided on the lines of Delhi Metro, he added.
A total of 419 trained personnel of the force had been deployed for security of Delhi Airport Metro Link, he added. The force recruited almost 14,000 personnel last year in the lower ranks, which include about 500 from Jammu and Kashmir, over 800 from North Eastern states and also from naxal-affected states.
A new research and development (R&D) cell has been created in the force to keep abreast with rapid advances in technology for security, Das said.
The Phase I of the Metro project, with a length of 42.3 km, will be completed by June 2013 and Reach I, from Byappanahalli to M G Road, may be opened for commercial operations in the first week of April.
Final certification soon for Reach-1
The Commissioner of Railway Safety (CRS) is expected to begin the process of awarding final certification to Reach-1 of the Namma Metro project, sources in the Bangalore Metro Rail Corporation Limited (BMRCL) said, reports DHNS from Bangalore.
As the trial runs are on at a desired pace, the certification is due on Friday. Metro is progressing to meet the April 4 deadline set by Chief Minister B S Yeddyurappa for its commercial operations.
