City cops crack 2 murder cases

The suspects allegedly hacked to death Chand Pasha (25) with lethal weapons near the railway gate on Nagavara Main Road on the night of June 4. Two days before the murder, Chand Pasha had allegedly inflicted cut injuries on Syed Imran’s face using a razor and threatened to kill him. The suspects told the police they decided to murder Chand to settle scores with him, police said.

In another case, Banaswadi police arrested T Praveen (20), Ajay Christopher (20), K Karthik (20) and Sudhir (17), all residents of Lingarajapuram, and recovered an autorickshaw they had used to flee after a murderous attack on a youth.

Police said the suspects consumed liquor in a bar on Kammanahalli Main Road on May 7. One of them lost his balance and fell on Manjunath who was standing outside the bar with his friend Nagaraj. Manjunath asked them to mind their behaviour.

Irked by his remarks, the foursome allegedly attacked Manjunath and Nagaraj with beer bottles. Nagaraj’s brother Kumar (27), who witnessed the incident, rushed to his brother’s rescue. They attacked Kumar also with bottles and fled in an autorickshaw. Kumar was rushed to Bowring Hospital where he died on June 13.

Eight held for flesh trade

The Upparpet police arrested eight persons for allegedly indulging in prostitution and recovered Rs 20,000 in cash on Saturday. The suspects are Ishwar (24), Annaiah (38), Madesha (23) Madhu (26), Seema (20), Geetha (19), Sudha (19) and Jyothi (20).

The police raided Srinivas Lodge in Cottonpet and arrested the suspects. Madhu owned SLN Lodge, which was raided by the police for a similar offence earlier. After police ordered the closure of SLN Lodge, Madhu took Srinivas Lodge on lease and continued the flesh trade, police said.
