City-M'lore train to be flagged off

The Railway Ministry has finally decided to flag off day train between Mangalore and Bangalore on August 29. The newly introduced train will run thrice a week.
 
Though currently there is a night train between the two cities, there was a strong demand to start a day train from Coastal Karnataka. Union Law Minister M Veerappa Moily will flag off the train at Mangalore railway station. Union Minister of State for Railways K H Muniyappa will be present on the occasion.

As per the schedule prepared by the Railway Board, the train will depart from  Mangalore at 8.40 am and reach Bangalore at 7.30 pm while it leaves Bangalore (Yashwanthpur station) at 7.30 am and arrives Mangalore at 7.40 pm. The train halts at Tumkur, Arasikere, Hassan, Sakleshpur, Subramanya, Kabaka Puttur and Bantwal.

The Train will run from Mangalore on Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday while from Bangalore on Monday, Wednesday and Friday in a week. Though the day train was announced in 2006 Railway budget, it was not started due to various reasons.
