Tha National Committee for Protection of Natural Resources (NCPNR) on Wednesday welcomed the Supreme Court order directing the Central Empowered Committee (CEC) to file its report on Adani Enterprises Ltd, Jindal Steel Work, and South West Mining Company allegedly involved in the mining scam.

The court passed the order on February 10 directing the CEC to give its recommendations on the Interlocutary Application filed by Samaja Parivartana Samudaya on January 16. This order will bring to light the unholy nexus between politicians, corporates and bureaucrats, said S R Hiremath, president of NCPNR.

Instead of facilitating the investigations, the State government has transferred the Lokayukta officials, causing a delay in the investigation process, Hiremath said. He said the government, on November 10 last year, transferred ADGP Lokayukta Jeevan Kumar Gaonkar, who was hardly in the position for three months. “This officer was effectively supervising investigations against several ministers,” the activist said.
