Five days into the custody death of 37-year-old Sathish alias ‘Sketch Manja’ who jumped to his death from the second floor of Amruthahalli police station on September 20, the police are clueless about his family members. A 20-member police team is still looking out for his family, whose consent is needed for the postmortem.

Sathish was a habitual offender committing burglaries and had many cases registered against him. Since he had given false information about his whereabouts, police are unable to trace his family members.

The Amruthahalli police have appealed to the public for any information about his family members. Police sources said if they cannot trace his family in a few days, they will inform the deputy commissioner of the revenue department, a competent authority for ordering a postmortem and cremation, that there are no claimants for the body.

Meanwhile, the Karnataka State Human Rights Commission began a probe, including taking statements from the crime staff who were questioning Sathish, sources said.
