Azim Premji University will introduce specialisations in leadership management and pedagogy and curriculum in its Masters in Education programme from the coming academic year.
In January, a memorandum was signed between Azim Premji Foundation and the Karnataka State Education department to strengthen the quality of elementary education in the State.
One of the aims mentioned in the memorandum is to ‘develop school leaders with education perspective’. The plan is to impart the necessary leadership and management skills to school functionaries who in turn, would bring about changes and improvements in the schools through their coordinated efforts.
The Vice Chancellor of the University, Anurag Behar explained that there was no relation between the work of the Azim Premji Foundation in the field and the courses proposed to be introduced.
Specialisations in health and nutrition, public policy and law and governance will also be offered under the Masters in Development Studies.
