If you are pining to have some good coastal food, ‘Malabar Bay’, near BTM Layout, is the place to be. Serving a huge variety, from Kerala dishes to North Indian and Chinese — this restaurant is hugely sought-after.

Built and decorated like a Malabarian mansion, the ground floor is usually occupied by those waiting for takeaways, the first floor is for those who have come in for a dining experience.

The menu, which spreads across about 20 pages, has a wide range to choose from. They also have seasonal dishes like crab, rabbit and duck. While many Kerala cuisine restaurants are popular for their beef dishes, one can’t expect the same here.

While there are plenty of soups and starters to pick from, it’s good to try their ‘Koondal roast’ (squid) and ‘Chemmeen tawa fry’ (prawns). As ‘Puttu’ is a popular food item, they have a variety of it in the form of ‘Irachi puttu’, ‘Fish puttu’ and plain ‘puttu’. For the main course, apart from the famous ‘appams’ and ‘Chicken stew’, the ‘Fish kothu porota’, ‘Kurumulagu kozhi’, ‘Aleppey fish curry’ and ‘Fish moilee’ are a great choice.

Those who don’t want to try the Malabar cuisine can opt for dishes like ‘Lahori murgh’, ‘Chicken vindaloo’, ‘Gosht rogan josh’, ‘Fish tikka masala’ and more. If Chinese is what one prefers, they also have dishes like ‘Hong Kong chicken’, ‘Chilli prawns’, ‘Szechwan chicken fried rice’, ‘Chinese chopsuey’ etc.

Fret not, they have a good amount of choices for vegetarians as well, in all categories.
As one enjoys the food, the restaurant entertains them with old and new Malayalam songs, and sometimes even Bollywood songs. A quiet and pleasant place for families, friends and couples, ‘Malabar Bay’ caters to everyone who wants to enjoy some good food.

The restaurant is located at 43, Krishna Nagar, SG Pallya Road, BTM.
