Parents Association of Persons with Cerebral Palsy (PAPCP) had organised cultural programmes for differently-abled children to mark World Disabled Day on Monday.
“Around 15 per cent of the world’s population suffers from some or the other form of disabilities and most of them are unaware of the challenges they face.
Persons with disability do not have equal access to services, education, employment, healthcare, lifestyle, political participation or justice,” a member of the Association said.
Muralidhar, the parent of a differently-abled girl attending the daycare centre of the Association, said disabled children can become capable, confident and self-sufficient by taking part in educational and cultural activities.
The Association, located at mini Bal Bhavan, Jeevan Bima Nagar, caters to personal and professional needs of young adults who are afflicted with disorders such as Cerebral Palsy, Down’s Syndrome, autism, mental retardation and physically-challenged persons.
