With the Transport Department still waiting for a response from the centre to tweak rules for legalising car-pooling, the 15-day deadline for Ola and Uber to shut car-pooling services ended on Sunday and is likely to be extended.

Transport Commissioner M K Aiyappa had said that he would wait for the Centre’s reply before taking a decision. Officials had seized 32 cars on February 3 for continuing Ola Share and uberPool services.
Officials have cited the Motor Vehicles Act to bar vehicles attached to the app-based taxis with contract permit from picking up passengers at different places.
