With the recovery of two more bodies from debris today, the toll in the building collapse in the city has risen to three.

One body was recovered from the debris last evening and today the rescue personnel extricated two more bodies, Additional Police Commissioner Kamalpanth told PTI here.
Of the three deceased, one was a woman, who was a native of Karnataka and two others were from Kolkata, he said.

The ground floor of a six-storey apartment building under construction gave in at Someshwaranagar yesterday, killing one and injuring eight others.

Kamalpanth said the rescue operation had been called off and demolition work has begun as the building was precariously "sitting" on the first floor after the mishap.

The apartment was being built in a crowded locality cheek by jowl with neighbouring structures and it was found that the owner had violated norms, constructing additional floors.
