A 28-year-old housewife committed suicide by hanging herself at her residence on the Bank Avenue Road in Hennur on Thursday.

Police said that Selvi, a native of Tamil Nadu, was residing with her husband Muthuraj, a manager in a mobile phone service provider company, and five-year-old son, Abhishek.

On Thursday morning, Muthuraj left for work and Selvi was at home with her son. Around 6 pm, she left her son at her neighbour’s house to play and went back and hanged herself from the ceiling. The incident came to light after Muthuraj came home late in the evening.

Aspired to get into IAS
Her family members told the police that she was leading a happy life. But of late she had gone into depression and was being treated. She had finished her MCA and was preparing for the IAS exams. The exact reason for the suicide is yet to be ascertained, the police said. A case has been registered at the Hennur police station.
