DH Soccer quiz celebrates the spirit of the game

The event at a City hotel began with rib-tickling humour by a mimicry artist followed by a star-studded affair. The celebrated stars from Kannada film industry descended on the stage. Upendra danced to the tunes from ‘Rakta Kanneeru’, and an artiste mimicked Vishnuvardhan enacting scenes from the blockbuster ‘Aptarakshaka’. But it was Rajkumar’s song ‘Huttidare Kannada Nadalli Huttabeku’ that got everyone on their feet.

As many as 316 high school and college students participated in the quiz. The event saw 82 and 76 teams participating in the school and college categories respectively. Out of which, 32 students won the top three spots and consolation prizes.

“We spent one hour everyday to prepare for the quiz. We gained knowledge by the way of participation. And winning the quiz makes every effort worthy,” said Gautham and Nischay, first spot winners from National Centre of Excellence, who received the prize from Abhaynath, General Manager, State Bank of Mysore. The team from National Law School of India University (NLSIU) won the first prize at the college level. 

Deccan Herald and Prajavani which conducted “Soccer Safari Contest” for 23 days received a whopping 55,000 entries. Through lucky draw mode 74 participants won prizes which included a bumper prize worth Rs one lakh.

“Through this contest my knowledge really improved and I never expected I will be the winner of the bumper prize,” said Neelesh Patel, winner of the bumper prize.
