Mangaluru: The Belthangady police, armed with a search warrant, searched YouTuber Sameer M D’s house in Bannerghatta in Bengaluru in connection with a case registered in Belthangady police station on Thursday.
Dakshina Kannada Superintendent of Police Dr Arun K told DH that a team led by Belthangady police inspector Nagesh Kadri had obtained a search warrant from the local court to search Sameer’s rented house in Hullahalli near Bannerghatta.
The search was carried out as part of an investigation into a controversial AI-generated video regarding mass rapes and murders in Dharmasthala, which was uploaded on his YouTube channel “Doota”.
Police seized his computer and mobile phone used for creating the video, sources said.
The search was carried out as Sameer had failed to cooperate with the investigation during his two appearances at the Belthangady police station recently. The first search was conducted at his house on August 21, the sources said.
