A doctor, who allegedly stole jewellery on display at exhibitions, has landed in the police net. The north division police arrested Dr Kalpana, 51, an MBBS graduate, and recovered jewels worth Rs 31 lakh.

She was nabbed at an exhibition held at Sheraton Hotel in Subramanyanagar police limits. The police had laid a trap following a complaint lodged by the organisers of an exhibition held a month ago at the Jayamahal Palace hotel, where 75-gram gold ornaments were stolen.

The police in mufti nabbed Kalpana and recovered diamonds, gold, ruby and other valuables from her. Earlier, she was arrested in a laptop theft case in Subramanyanagar police station. In June, 2008, she had made away with laptops from e- June electronic exhibition.
