Bengaluru: A visibly drunk man entered a house in Indiranagar and robbed a woman, police officials said on Thursday.
The incident occurred on Tuesday on 6th C Main in Indiranagar. The Indiranagar police have registered a case following a complaint by Carlton Kenny.
Before entering Kenny’s house, the suspect roamed around the area and tried to enter a few other houses. His movements were captured on nearby CCTVs, the police said.
Kenny, 21, told the police that the unidentified man entered his house on the ground floor around 3.30 pm when his mother, aged 45 years, was alone.
The FIR noted that the suspect stole a handbag lying on the sofa containing Rs 20,000 cash, a OnePlus mobile phone worth Rs 10,000, and a wristwatch worth Rs 5,000.
A senior police officer said the suspect had been identified. “He is yet to be apprehended,” the officer said. “We know that he roams in and around the area.”
Speaking to DH, Kenny said the grill door was latched, but the main door was open as it was around the time when his 17-year-old brother generally returns home after his classes. On that day, he had extra classes till 5 pm.
“Once the man went inside, my mother was alarmed as she was expecting my brother,” Kenny said. “She panicked. She then used a steel water bottle to shoo him away. She shouted and ran behind him. A few steps after leaving the house, he threw away the handbag and fled with its contents.”
Kenny, who was in college at the time, said, “The stolen phone belonged to my mother. When I came home, the house was locked. For nearly five minutes, I panicked before I found her,” he added.
