Police said the suspects gained entry into the house of retired post office employee Chandrashekharaiah on Old Post Office Road in Tyagarajnagar, on the pretext of seeking Money Order (MO) forms. They requested Chandrashekharaiah to give an MO form to send money to a temple trust office.

Chandrashekharaiah expressed that he had retired from service long back. The duo gave some currency notes and requested him to drop them in a temple hundi and went away. But they returned and sought the money stating that they would drop the money in the hundi.

They told Chandrashekharaiah’s wife Seetalakshmi that good luck would shine on them if they touched the notes to a gold chain before dropping them into the hundi. They collected her gold chain placed it inside the notes and packed them.

While one of them dragged the couple into a conversation, the other managed to steal the chain. The duo told the couple that they kept on a cot and went away. The couple grew suspicious and later found the chain missing.
