SPECIAL ARRANGEMENT
Bengaluru: Two men were arrested for harassing and obstructing an on-duty traffic policewoman at Saibaba Temple Junction in Arekere on Saturday evening, the police said.
The incident occurred around 6 pm when the police constable was managing traffic using hand signals, as the junction lacks traffic lights.
According to the FIR, the two men, who were in an SUV, ignored her signals and stopped in the middle of the road. When she questioned them, they got out of the vehicle and allegedly harassed her, preventing her from carrying out her duties.
A video of the incident has since gone viral on social media, bringing attention to the harassment faced by traffic police officers.
The Hulimavu police tracked down the suspects — identified as Lokesh and Ravi, both aged 46 — and arrested them under Section 132 (assault or criminal force against a public servant) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS).
