<p>Bengaluru: Hinting at his helplessness in resolving Bengaluru’s traffic woes in the short term, Deputy Chief Minister <a href="https://www.deccanherald.com/tags/d-k-shivakumar">D K Shivakumar</a> on Thursday said the situation is so dire that “even God himself cannot do anything within the next one, two, or three years.” </p>.<p>He assured, however, that traffic conditions would improve once projects like tunnel roads and elevated corridors take shape.</p>.<p>Shivakumar made these remarks while launching Namma Raste, an illustrated guidebook detailing best practices for road design, construction, and maintenance. The guide was prepared by mobility experts at the request of the Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike (BBMP).</p>.<p>“We have a plan to tackle Bengaluru’s traffic problems. Tunnel road work should have started by now, but delays due to technical, financial, and land acquisition issues have stalled it. The 40-km double-decker road plan is ready, and several projects will take shape in the next three to four years. We are also white-topping 1,700 km of roads,” he said.</p>.AI being leveraged for traffic enforcement, says top cop Anucheth.<p>During his speech, he directed officials to cut down optical fibre cables (OFCs) hanging over roads and footpaths.</p>.<p>“There have been many complaints. If service providers don’t pay fees and use designated ducts, we will remove them immediately,” he warned.</p>.<p>Later in the day, Opposition leader R Ashoka slammed Shivakumar’s remarks, attributing the traffic crisis to a lack of funds in the Congress-led government. </p>.<p>“People have no expectations from you or your government,” he said, calling Congress “a curse to Karnataka and Bengaluru”.</p>
