Deputy Chief Minister G Parameshwara on Saturday said passengers travelling on the Purple Line of Namma Metro have not to be worried after a pillar in the Trinity Station developed cracks.
G Parameshwara, who also holds Bengaluru Development minister portfolio, inspected the metro pillar number 155 and also travelled in the metro from Vidhana Soudha station to Trinity station as part of the inspection.
“The experts from the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) and Indian Institute of Science(IISc) has reviewed the situation and also overseeing the work. The experts have clarified that there is no major problem in the pillar and no need to panic, hence there’s no reason for the public to panic,” said G Parameshwara.
“The reason of the crack is honeycomb in a concrete beam, there is no problem in the pillar. The repair work will be completed soon. I have directed the metro officials to inspect the entire line to make sure this kind of incidents not to repeat again in future,” he added.
The Deputy Chief Minister says the action on the contractor will be taken once the detail report is submitted by the officials.
“We don't know whether there is a fault by the contractor and in which stage of work, after the report from the officials we will decide to take action against the concerned person,” Parameshwara explained.
