North division police claimed to have cracked a recent theft case at Sony Centre on BEL Road by arresting an employee of the outlet.

Valuables worth Rs 11.61 lakh were stolen from the shop on April 25 and a complaint was lodged with the Sanjaynagar police station.

The police investigating the case were baffled since there was no forceful entry into the shop. The suspicion turned on the security guard on duty and his interrogation did not reveal much.

They then started tracking the movements of the employees of the outlet and scrutinised their call log. It came to light that an employee of the shop was in regular contact with a former security guard of the establishment.

When interrogated, the former security guard confessed to his involvement in the crime.

He disclosed that Sai Chandan, a salesman at the outlet and another man by name Ashwin had given him the stolen valuables to hide them in a safe place. Based on his statement, police arrested Chandan and launched a search for absconding Ashwin.
