World Environment Day is observed on June 5. Events highlighting different aspects of environmental degradation and sustainable solutions will be held to mark the occasion.
One of them is a day-long festival, called ‘The Earth Remembers: Stories of Justice and Resilience’. It will be hosted at Bangalore International Centre (BIC), on Saturday.
Talking about the event, head of programmes at BIC, Sandhya Kannan, says, “We wanted to bring together a variety of events that would connect with all age groups.” Performances, exhibitions, and workshops for adults and children are part of the line-up.
Some highlights include, ‘What on Earth?!’, a quiz by Berty Ashley, and
a coffee-tasting experience by Black Baza Coffee. Talking of the latter, she says, “One will get to experience different brews and how climate change can affect a brew.”
Screening of films like ‘My Otter Diary’, directed by Sugandhi Gadadhar, and ‘Breaking the Nets’, directed by Shamsheer Yousaf, are a must-watch, Sandhya says. “We are bringing one of the fishermen featured in the second film for a conversation with the audience,” she shares.
