Fire and Emergency Services personnel drained flood water out of Kodichikkanahalli on Sunday while water is still being pumped out of Central Excise and Customs staff quarters in BTM Layout.

C Basavanna, Chief Fire Officer (East), said that most of the water in Kodichikkanahalli was pumped out on Saturday. In the Central Excise quarters, the draining of water is going on. Four pumps are being used for the purpose.

Report to be submitted
Another senior officer said the fire force would inspect the areas that were flooded and submit a report to the civic authorities. “A meeting of senior officers will be held shortly in this regard.

The report will identify flood-prone areas, storm water drains and gutters which need to be repaired, and which outlets need cleaning up,” the officer said. “This will help them take necessary steps and avert similar situations.”
