Around 100 farmers and land-losers are staging a protest against the Bangalore Development Authority and the Karnataka Government over the lethargic attitude and unconditional delay on the formation of the Shivaram Karanth Layout and Peripheral Ring Road.

The protest has been going on for nearly 30 hours now. The protest had started on Tuesday at 11.30 am.

While the Layout has been delayed by 10 years, the PRR has been delayed by over 12 years.

BDA Chairman ST Somashekhar tried to pacify the agitating crowd by telling them that he is trying to seek an appointment with Chief Minister HD Kumaraswamy or Bengaluru Development Minister G Parameshwara.

Meanwhile, the agitators stated that they will leave only when a meeting happens and a written communication is given.

BR Nanjundappa, an agitator and land-loser for the Shivaram Karanth Layout, said: "We spent the whole night on the road outside the BDA. We will leave only when the ministers meet us and give us something in writing. We demand to know what our future is."

The agitators are against parting with their land for the formation of the layout.

Those losing land for the PRR stated that they were willing to part with their land but in lieu of appropriate compensation. They also demanded to know if the road will be laid and when that would happen.
