Farmers protested outside the offices of the National Highways Authority of India on Monday, demanding that the government drop new NH 206 project.
The farmers alleged the government acquired thousands of acres of fertile land in Chikkamagaluru, Hassan and Tumakuru districts for the five-lane highway paying lower than the market value. They demanded the government to return the land to owners.
