Students’ feedback is key to improve the medical field, noted a panel discussion held in Indian Institute of Science (IISc) campus on Saturday.
Moderated by Narayana Hrudayalaya founder chairman Dr Devi Shetty, a distinguished panel drawn from well-known institutions across the country discussed the subject “Medical Education: the need to look beyond.”
“It has been increasingly felt that the time has come for medical education to look beyond medicine into other realms, a reason why we chose this topic (for discussion),” Dr Alex Thomas, president, Association of National Board Accredited Institutions (ANBAI) told DH.
“Panellists unanimously felt that changes should be introduced in medical education by taking feedback from students. They also brought to our notice issues the common man faces in the medical field,” Dr Thomas said.
The panel was made of Dr Abhijeet Sheth, President, National Board of Examinations (NBE), Dr Reena Nayyar, Additional Secretary, Medical Council of India (MCI), Prof Venkat Rao, Vice Chancellor, National Law School of India University (NLSIU), Raghunath, IIM Bangalore.
“We’ll formulate the discussion (points) and include it into the whitepaper to be submitted,” Dr Thomas.
