The film distributor Balamuthaiah, now living in Hyderabad, had borrowed around Rs 50 lakh from Dhanraj, a Bangalore City Corporator, police said.
When Dhanraj demanded that his money be returned, Balamuthaiah issued cheques, which bounced, police said.
Dhanraj filed a private plea in a city court and it took cognisance of the case and issued a warrant against Balamuthaiah.
Following this, police took the distributor into custody and produced him before the court.
