A 24-year-old housekeeping staffer at a pharmaceutical company on Palace Road was shocked after the firm sacked her for reporting sexual harassment by her supervisor.
The woman filed a complaint against her supervisor Sudarshan before the High Grounds police. According to the complaint, she was hired as a contract employee through a consultancy firm and has been working for eight months.
She said Sudarshan sexually harassed her under the pretext of overseeing her work and she reported him to company in-charge Praveen, who asked her not to discuss the issue with others, while assuring action.
The woman was shocked to learn that the company removed her from service two days later and did not offer any explanation. She then filed a police complaint.
The police have booked Sudarshan for sexual harassment and have taken up a case.
