The incident occurred on the intervening nights of Wednesday and Thursday in and around DJ Halli and Ramamurthy Nagar, police officers said.

Investigators have apprehended Nayeem Pasha, Arafat, Sahil, Najamath and Adnan, all in their 20s and residents of the city. Police have also impounded two scooters.

Investigations revealed that the arrested were recording reels for social media while holding swords, a senior police officer said.

Videos accessed by DH showed the arrested drive recklessly without wearing helmets and with two pillion riders on the scooters.

A case has been registered under sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) and the Arms Act. Further probe is underway.
