The Forest department along with the lake monitoring committee, residents welfare associations and residents of Puttenahalli planted more than five thousand saplings around the Puttenahalli lake on Sunday.
The Puttenahalli lake, which is also a bird conserve, has been rejuvenated by the Forest Department with the help of Indian Institute of Science.
"The tree planting program is a prelude to the upcoming environmental day. This lake is going to be unique with plenty of facilities for children and even adults to explore and experiment with nature," said Harshavardhan, Assistant Conservator of Forests.
The programme was inaugurated by Yelahanka MLA, S R Vishwanath with planting saplings. Dipika Bajpai, Deputy Conservator of Forests and local residents were also present.
