A letter written by a five-year-year-old girl to Prime Minister Narendra Modi over Bengaluru' roads and unending traffic woes has gone viral on social media.
It may be recalled that PM Modi was in Bengaluru last Sunday (August 10) for the inauguration of Namma Metro's Yellow Line.
Modi's visit and the necessary security arrangements also resulted in traffic being thrown out of the gear on Sunday.
Even the roads that were not mentioned in the traffic advisories were blocked, leading to the frustration of commuters.
The five-year-old girl took the opportunity to highlight Bengaluru's traffic woes.
In a letter which was shared by her own father (Abhiroop Chatterjee) on X, on the day PM Modi visited the city, the girl wrote," "Narendra Modi ji, there is a lot of traffic. We get late to school and office. The road is very bad. Please help."
Bengaluru is known for its bumper-to-bumper traffic which seems vehicles piled up for hours on some days.
The post by the girls' father on X garnered many views and the comments section was also filled with a flurry of reactions.
“I hope he meets your daughter and her wish comes true,” one user wrote, while another added, “Loved the innocence and efforts.”
It is worth mentioning that poor road conditions, worsened by rain, remain a major concern in the "Tech City".
According to the TomTom Traffic Index, Bengaluru was the third-slowest city in the world in 2024.
Baranquilla (Colombia) ranks first in traffic congestion while Kolkata is second.
In 2023, Bengaluru was the sixth-most congested city in the world and the second in 2022.
Despite, traffic-easing strategies like carpooling and staggered office timings, Bengaluru's traffic has always caused a concern and the tiny tot took the right occasion to highlight it to the country's Prime Minister.
