A group of youngsters have come together to re-claim the footpaths for pedestrians through a unique initiative.

The team-Footpath Saviours-is trying to create awareness among the motorists who meander on the pavements by giving them 'awards' and clicking selfies with the erring motorists.

The youngsters had one such awareness campaign on Monday in BTM Layout, the second stage near AXA signal. The 'award' that the members gave away had witty quotes like-"I love riding on the footpath", which they hoped would drive the point home. Several motorists acknowledged for the selfies as they realized their mistake.

A Footpath Saviors' member, Naveen said: "Motorists who ride on the footpath are putting the lives of pedestrians at risk. The award and selfies are in the hope that they might follow the rules and give way to pedestrians."

Another member added:" The pedestrians always have the primary right on the road and pavements."
