With a homely ambience, Imli is slowly becoming a favourite among the foodies of the City. Serving dishes that have been passed down for generations, the place was started by Archana Mittal — an artist, homemaker and foodie. Coming from a family where food was  celebrated, she feels that she was destined to start the place. “I realised that people, who had come from outside, had a common complaint. They wanted a place where they could just relax and enjoy a delicious, healthy home-cooked meal,” says Archana. She runs the restaurant along with her husband, Somil Mittal.

The place serves delicious, healthy and pure vegetarian North Indian cuisine with an emphasis on quality ingredients. The delicious snacks include ‘din bhar khana peena’, ‘mathri aur achaaris’ (a crispy, flaky and flavoured deep-fried biscuits served with pickle), ‘vada pav’, plain ‘besan ka cheela’ and ‘moong dal ka vada’. ‘Poori aur aloo ki sabzi’ is ideal for breakfast while ‘sabudana khichdi’, a Maharashtrian delicacy, is made of pearl sago and potatoes.

There are a variety of ‘parathas’ too like ‘aloo’, ‘gobhi’, ‘paneer’, ‘mattar’, ‘methi’, ‘mooli’, ‘pyaaz’ and ‘papad’. “Imli was initially conceived as a casual hang out; an ‘adda’ serving popular snacks and basic ‘chai’ with a small corner reserved for artistes. But the idea soon grew and it is now a full-fledged restaurant with a diverse menu,” adds Archana.
Imli is located on 204, 5th Main, 7th Cross, Indiranagar I Stage.
