Former MLC and BJP district unit president Shivaraj Sajjanar was arrested here on Monday in connection with a case relating to violation of the model code of conduct during the 2013 Assembly polls.
The Election Commission had lodged a complaint against Sajjanar and he had failed to appear before the court.
The court had issued a warrant against him. Sajjanar turned up at the court on Monday with an application seeking recall of the warrant.
However, the chief judicial magistrate ordered the police to arrest Sajjanar. After he was arrested, he was hospitalised as he complained of uneasiness.
