Following a petition by APKS challenging denial of permission granted earlier, the Counsel for BBMP submitted that the order has been withdrawn.

The petitioners were granted permission to stage 11 street plays as part of their 14 year street play festival. This year’s event was to raise funds for the flood victims.
The petitioner contended that the BBMP had cancelled the Vedike’s programme to make way for an event organised by a political party, which is non-governmental in nature and sought to quash the order.

During the hearing, when the judge questioned it, the respondents said they had decided to withdraw the cancellation order. Meanwhile, M Sudhakar Pai, counsel for the third respondent Eshwarappa submitted that the programme, otherwise intended to be conducted in Malleshwaram playground, it will now be shifted to some other venue. He further submitted that they do not have any objections to the petitioner carrying out their activities in the playground as permitted earlier.

Justice B S Patil, who heard the matter, disposed off the petition following this submission.
