The event was aimed at helping the freshers get acclimatised to the new environment and build a rapport with seniors.

The party was themed as a ‘Toon Party’, wherein freshers were asked to dress up like cartoon characters. There was a splendid display of creativity involving various costumes. A vibrancy of colours was seen around the campus which reminded the freshers of their childhood days.

The stage events began with an inaugural speech by M Venugopal Naidu, Head of Department of PES-BBM. He stressed on the need for such creative activities which provide the students a platform to showcase their talent.

He advised the freshers to keep the pride of the institution high.  Then the stage was set for a breathtaking salsa performance by Chitra Patil and Pranauthi Udayshankar. Girish and Monish, the members of ‘Raptures’, an in-house team, set the temperatures soaring and left the audience asking for more.

Students enjoyed the fun games organised throughout the day like balloon bursting, brick race and an innovative pencil and rubber band game. Each and every student participated in full strength and enthusiasm. The main aim of the activity was to introduce the new students to their seniors and to help them be more comfortable.

An in-house mad ads team ‘PES Pistols’ tickled the funny bone of the audience and put up a spectacular performance.

They had everyone in splits with their mockery of products and various artistes. The freshers were also given the platform to exhibit their skills through various talent hunt competitions. An in-house band enthralled the audience by doing a sing along concert with the crowd on one of their all-time favourite songs.

The most awaited event ‘Mr and Ms Fresher’ was the highlight of the day, where students had to face many challenging activities and tasks to win the title of ‘Mr and Ms Fresher’ for the year 2011.

After the completion of several rounds, Karan Bhatia and Anjali were crowned as ‘Mr and Ms Fresher’ respectively. Prizes were distributed to the winners in various activities.
All the students and faculty members had a memorable evening.

They welcomed the freshers to the institution with open arms and had a great time interacting with the new batch of students.
