According to the police, the incident occurred when Ashok Kumar, the owner of Punam Plaza in Mamulpet, was getting ready to down the shutters. The accused made a forceful entry into the shop, threatened him with lethal weapons. When protested, one of the accused attacked and injured him, while others collected the valuables and disappeared.
The miscreants were speaking in Kannada, Hindi and Tamil and were in their early thirties.
Insiders’ role suspected.
Interestingly, the showroom employees had already left when the incident occurred. The police suspect insiders’ role in the incident.
An injured Ashok Kumar has been admitted to a private hospital and is stated to be out of danger, said police.
