Gang stealing high-end bikes nabbed

The Varthur police have arrested Azmath Khan and Santhosh (inset), notorious bike lifters, who stole expensive vehicles to make quick money. The police have recovered 16 bikes worth Rs 30 lakh from the accused.

The city police arrested three people for stealing expensive bikes like Royal Enfield and DUKE and selling them at a cheap price. The police have sized 16 vehicles worth Rs 30 lakh.

The arrested have been identified as Azamth Khan alias Bullet Khan, Santosh Reddy and Manjunath.

The accused would identify only Royal Enfield and DUKE bikes, which cost nearly Rs 2 lakh each. They would then break openhand locks and steal them away. Manjunath would sell them to the villagers near Attibele and Tamil Nadu borders for a lesser price.

A senior police officer said following a series of complaints, a special team was formed to nab the accused. As many as 10 Royal Enfields, two DUKEs, as well as two Hero Honda Splendor and one Honda Activa, were seized from the accused.

Cases registered in Varthur, Suddaguntepalya, Tilaknagar, Mico Layout and other police station limits were solved, they said. Police first arrested Manjunath and based on the information provided by him, Khan and Santosh were also nabbed.
