Actor and model Gauhar Khan has forayed into various mediums including modelling, films and reality shows. She says that it is the passion that drives her to try different genre. “I love acting. Just like acting, dance looks graceful only if you are passionate about it. You need to like the thing you do, only then you can excel. Television and films is something that I enjoy equally because in television people connect with me as Gauhar Khan and in films people connect with my characters,” she says.

On the sidelines of walking the ramp as the showstopper for jewellery designer Akassh K Agarwal at a fashion show, she affirms the need to stop marital rape.

“Akassh didn’t only make her models and me look graceful with his jewellery
but he also came out with a strong message. I believe, women should raise their voice against any physical or emotional abuse in their marriages and a fashion show is a great platform to spread this message,” says the 32-year-old.

She came into the limelight recently for being slapped by an audience member on a reality show. Later, it was alleged as staged by her. Not mincing words, she states, “I have never been someone who reacts on the controversies.  You have to let these breathe. Controversies are part of this industry. I only give my opinion, if something is against my morals, ethics and my dignity.”

After pursuing modelling, she made her acting debut in 2009 with Yash Raj Films’ ‘Rocket Singh: Salesman of the Year’. She says that the film gave her more recognition as an actor. Khan also starred in films such as the action thriller ‘Game’, and revenge drama ‘Ishaqzaade’.

Thereafter, she has continued to be a part of various reality shows, the last being TV channel Star Plus’s dance reality show, ‘Dance Plus’. On her future assignments, she candidly says, “I am looking for work that sets me apart. I want to be content with what I take up; I want to do quality work. As of now, I haven’t signed anything. I will continue doing live shows in India and abroad.” Ask her about her mantra for success and she says,

“I believe in hardwork.”
