Bengaluru: A resident of the Vasavanthapura Ward under the Bengaluru South Assembly Constituency (within the limits of Bengaluru South City Corporation) reported cases of gastroenteritis illness in the Falcon City residential complex on November 12. Based on this information, senior officials of the Health Department, along with a team of 20 staff members, visited the premises and conducted an inspection.
It was found that from October 6 to November 12, the Apollo Clinic located within the residential complex had been treating close to three gastroenteritis cases daily. Immediate action was taken by deploying four medical teams, who conducted first-aid and medical outreach camps from November 12 to 27, providing health education and preventive information to the residents.
Around 177 residents received treatment at local and nearby hospitals. Water supply systems were thoroughly inspected, and water samples were collected from the main water source, storage sumps, overhead tanks, and individual flats. These samples were sent to the Public Health Institute for analysis.
A notice has been issued to the apartment management, directing them to thoroughly clean and disinfect all water sources, storage sumps, and tanks, and ensure that water quality is maintained as per World Health Organization (WHO) standards.
Medical teams from the Corporations have been deployed within the apartment complex to provide healthcare services and conduct health education sessions for residents.
