The German Consulate General in Bengaluru has agreed to support the project to upgrade and equip the low-vision clinic at ‘Unit of Hope’ at St John’s Medical College Hospital.

Jorn Rohde, German Consul General, visited the CBM-supported project, ‘Unit of Hope’, a comprehensive early intervention centre in the City on Wednesday.

“Under the micro-project scheme, we have been supporting projects in Karnataka and Kerala and are happy to lend help to the Unit of Hope,” said Rohde. He lauded the concept of having a holistic approach to help parents and children deal with the disabilities. The funds under the scheme would be utilised for purchasing a mobile equipment to rehabilitate children at the low-vision clinic.

The strategic advisor of CBM, a disability and development organisation, Dominique Schlupkothen, said that disability inclusion and rehabilitation has been now picked up in India as compared to earlier.

An educator working at Unit of Hope  said that the centre sought financial help from the Consulate for setting up of a low-vision clinic with environmental modification.
