A four-year-old girl reportedly drowned in a sump at her house in Mahadevapura police limits on Monday. Police identified the victim as Sharani, the only daughter of Shivakumar, a resident of Udayanagar.
Police said that she went out to play at around 4 pm on Monday, but did not return till late in the evening. Anxious parents searched for Sharani in the neighbourhood, but failed to trace her. Later, they grew suspicious as the sump in their house was open and they looked inside. They found Sharani’s body floating and rushed her to a nearby hospital where doctors declared her dead on arrival.
