A sales representative hanged himself from a roadside tree in Devara Jeevanahalli in the Mico Layout locality early on Thursday morning.
Manjunath (35), a resident of Jamboo Savari Dinne, worked for a PVC pipes company, and also taught tabla in his spare time. His wife is a school teacher at Kottanur and the couple had a 10-year-old daughter. Manjunath had allegedly mortgaged a gold chain to meet his family expenses.
Depressed over his inability to redeem the ornament, he took the extreme step, police said. In two death notes addressed to his wife, Manjunath had stated that he had failed to fulfil his responsibilities and that he wished her good luck.
