Fashion is something which can be difficult to follow, specially in a City like Delhi where one colour, pattern or fabric can be insanely hot one minute and totally out in next.
But there is something about white which makes the wearer look elegant. While black is usually the most common colour for winter, white is the preferred choice for summer. Total white, it would seem is one of the hottest trends for Summer 2012.
White has its own significance in everyone’s life. Brides wear white in many countries, because it symbolises a virgin and in some cultures white is reserved for funerals. Some says it is not a colour but the manifestation of the presence of all colours - the complete energy of light.
Girls are very particular when it comes to colour selection according to the season. Be it a college student or working women or a home maker, people seem to be in love with white this summer.
Kamya Khanna, a student of IP University says, “White has become a trend among college kids. Every other girl is being seen in white. I have bought four brand new T-shirts in white. And I am loving it. White is also said to bring about mental clarity.”
A shopkeeper in Rajouri Garden also agrees that white is the colour that everyone seems to be in love with this season. The trend comes round every summer but this time this number of customers is higher. Western wear is being favoured Indian casuals.
As always, white has kept its well earned place as one of the big colour choices this summer even with designers.
Even designers are choosing white for their pret collections. You can’t go wrong with a traditional white outfit. Ethnic, Indo-westerns are now in. Designer Reshma Grover says, “White is the obvious choice in the scorching summer. People are preferring not only the Western attire but also the Indian and Indo-Western this year is highly in demand.
Sarees in white with crystal work, lehengas, gowns are the priority among divas and college kids alike.”
Speaking of students, it is not only the girls but white has also become popular among boys. S. Aggrawal, the owner of Manier Men’s in Connaught Place says, “This year we have seen an increased demand among boys. So, most of our fresh arrivals are in white.
Linen in formals and cotton in casuals are high in demand. College goers prefer cotton Tees while the brands that are selling like hot cakes include Tommy Hilfiger; Superdry; Jack n Jones; Adidas because they are providing ample variety in all sizes.
“On the other hand, corporate honchos and executives demand Linen mostly in brands like Raymonds and Levis. Some do request cotton but that is not so often. Ethnic wear is also being preferred in white with colourful embroidery. The enhancement of colour on white is really eye-catching.”
So, go out there and choose your white for the wardrobe this season. Rest assured you can’t go wrong with it.
