Three robberies
Three cases of robbery were reported in the City within a span of two hours on Friday night. Police said two men threatened Amit Kumar Sourav at knifepoint and took his mobile phone while he was engaged in a conversation near his house in R T Nagar.
At Srigandha Kawal in the Jnanabharathi police station limits, three unidentified bike-borne accosted B M Rakshit at around 10:30 pm, and robbed him of his motorcycle and a gold chain, totally worth Rs 1.39 lakh. Half-an-hour later, three men in a car robbed a man of his car and gold chain at Mallathahalli Main Road of ITI Layout. The loss has been put at Rs 7 lakh.
Life term awarded
A fast track court has awarded life imprisonment to a man for killing his wife two years ago by setting her on fire at his Bhyraveshwara Nagar residence. The incident took place on June 12, 2009. Nagaraju set his wife Chandrakala ablaze when his demands were not met. Three days later the woman succumbed to burns. Rajagopalanagar police had filed a charge sheet.
