The State government will take legal action against those involved in large-scale irregularities in the BBMP in the last five years as per the findings of the Rajendra Kumar Kataria committee report, Home Minister K J George said on Wednesday.

Speaking to reporters, he said the government cannot should ignore the report just because the BJP has won the BBMP elections again.

No revenge politics

“However, the government will not indulge in revenge politics. We will extend all support to the BJP-led BBMP as far as development of Bengaluru is concerned.”

“Promises made by the Congress to people of Bengaluru during the elections will be implemented. The BBMP should utilise the opportunity in the interest of the City,” George said.

On the defeat of the Congress in the BBMP polls, George, who is MLA from Sarvagnanagar Assembly constituency, said the party had not been able to perform as per the expectations. But the party’s performance has improved compared to 2010 polls both in terms of number of seats won and the vote share, he added.
